Director – Merchant Services and Acquiring

About the role

Visa is seeking a Director of Merchant Services and Acquiring to lead the expansion of a new mobile payment solution across Southern and Eastern Africa. The role will shape merchant acceptance strategies, build high‑value partnerships, and drive growth of Visa’s transaction volume in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute merchant acceptance, merchant relations and partner strategies to increase Visa MSV, market share and data‑processing revenue.
• Collaborate with the Head of Merchant Sales and Acquiring and Country Managers on industry, regulatory and interchange initiatives.
• Drive adoption of Visa payment solutions across top‑tier merchants and key business segments.
• Secure and close strategic deals with fintechs and other non‑traditional payment players.
• Lead negotiations for large strategic partnerships to meet regional strategic imperatives.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in merchant services, acquiring or payments.
• Deep knowledge of the Southern and Eastern African payments landscape.
• Track record of building and managing high‑value merchant and partner relationships.
• Strong understanding of industry regulations and interchange management.
