Drilling Programme Engineer

About the role

The Drilling Programme Engineer will be responsible for the complete design, documentation and continuous update of Well Drilling Programs (WDP) in support of operational teams. The role ensures technical and regulatory rigor, focusing on safety, performance and cost control.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed drilling programs including casing design, fluid plans, cementing, BOP equipment and well control procedures.
• Conduct technical risk analyses such as anti‑collision, geomechanical constraints, stuck‑pipe and hole‑caving scenarios.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, trajectory studies and mechanical stress analyses.
• Integrate geological, geophysical and geomechanical data into well design.
• Prepare internal validation documents (Gate Reviews) and contribute to technical reviews (DWOP, CWOP).
• Participate in post‑operation reviews, after‑action reports and lessons‑learned sessions.
• Collaborate with logistics, HSE, geoscience, completion teams and suppliers.
• Maintain technical documentation, standard procedures and provide ad‑hoc support during unexpected events.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (Bac+5) in petroleum, drilling or mechanical engineering.
• Minimum 7 years of drilling engineering experience, including program design.
• Fluent technical English.
• Relevant certifications such as IWCF Engineer (preferred) and BOSIET/HUET (advantage).
