Finance Associate (G-6) – Fixed Term – Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire

About the role

The Finance Associate provides technical and specialized support to UNICEF’s finance functions in Abidjan, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations. Working at the G‑6 level, the role requires a degree of independence while collaborating closely with local units and the Global Service Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and verify financial reports, reconcile invoices, and ensure data accuracy for statements of accounts and budget adjustments.
• Act as the local finance focal point, handling VAT exemption requests, coordinating with suppliers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and reporting progress to the Finance Officer.
• Maintain financial records, monitor expenditures, and perform bank reconciliations, including liaison with local banks for exchange rates and procedural updates.
• Support year‑end closing activities, including preparation of reports on accounts receivable, payable, pre‑payments, deposits, and leave balances.
• Assist in budget analysis, cost estimation, and preparation of detailed financial documentation archives.

Required profile

• Completion of secondary education (BAC) is required.
• Minimum six years of clerical experience in finance and accounting.
• Fluency in French; knowledge of English is an asset.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and digital dexterity skills.
• Previous UN or humanitarian experience is considered an asset.
