Head of Media

About the role

Narrativ is looking for a dynamic Head of Media to shape and grow its media ecosystem across Africa and beyond. You will lead storytelling across video, podcasts, digital platforms, social media, and creator networks while overseeing production and distribution for both internal ventures and client projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute media and content strategies for video, audio, digital, and social formats.
• Build quarterly and annual editorial plans across multiple platforms.
• Create original content formats, series, interviews, and digital‑first concepts.
• Oversee production timelines, creative direction, content quality, and publishing workflows.
• Lead and manage teams of editors, producers, shooters, hosts, and digital storytellers.
• Establish and nurture relationships with creators, influencers, media personalities, and strategic partners.
• Drive media partnerships and cross‑market collaborations across Africa and internationally.
• Design media ecosystems for Narrativ’s clients and internal ventures.
• Identify cultural moments and opportunities to strengthen content strategy.
• Build efficient media workflows across multiple countries and teams.
• Track performance metrics, define KPIs, and refine strategies based on insights.
• Collaborate with leadership on budgets, team structures, resources, and long‑term growth plans.

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in media, content, digital storytelling, or a related field.
• Strong network and deep understanding of the African media and creator ecosystem.
• Proven editorial vision combined with the ability to execute ideas.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing content or media strategies.
• Excellent leadership, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in English; French is a strong advantage.
