HSE Country Manager

About the role

BIA Group sells, rents and provides after-sales services for equipment used in public works, mines, quarries and transport, operating in Europe, Africa and Asia with more than 1300 employees. This HSE Country Manager position reports to the Country Manager and, at functional level, to the Regional HSE manager HUB. Its purpose is to implement the HSE policy of BIA Africa and the HSE system across all BIA mining sites and workshops in the country, while permanently developing the HSE culture.

Key responsibilities

• Risk assessment: keep hazard identifications and risk assessments up to date twice a year, ensure controls are coherent, necessary and sufficient, and guarantee the quality of risk analyses for each site
• Regulatory monitoring: identify applicable laws and regulations, check compliance periodically and implement the actions needed to comply
• Training: build an HSE training grid by worker category, provide awareness and training, prepare new employees at sites and workshops, and follow up the programme monthly
• HSE system: ensure Job Hazard Analyses for non-routine activities and control measures are in place, and develop SOPs with the site team for risky activities, reviewed periodically
• Reporting: complete reports for each site, analyse KPIs and propose improvements, and send weekly HSE reports to the Regional HSE manager

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in mining and/or construction
• Managerial experience on construction sites of at least 3 years
• Multiproject management experience
• Fluency in English, including technical terms
• Willingness to travel between sites most of the time

Required skills

• Knowledge of OHSAS 18001 standards
• Microsoft Office
