Lead Auditor – Rainforest Alliance (Contract)

About the role

The Rainforest Alliance is seeking a contract Lead Auditor to conduct environmental and social audits on farms and supply‑chain entities across Ivory Coast. You will travel to client sites, perform audits according to the Rainforest Alliance scheme and SCS protocol, and deliver accurate audit reports for certification.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and confirm audit dates with clients, preparing and sending audit plans.
• Arrange travel, accommodation and transportation in line with company policy and submit expense reports.
• Conduct audits using the appropriate checklists, forms and tools while adhering to quality and code‑of‑conduct standards.
• Maintain positive client relationships, respond to inquiries, and ensure thorough client records.
• Submit complete audit reports within established timelines for review and certification.
• Attend training to keep audit qualifications current and stay updated on relevant regulations and standards.

Required profile

• University degree in agronomy, food systems, agroforestry or a related field.
• Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture Standard Farm and/or Supply Chain e‑course certificate.
• Minimum 10 lead environmental or social audits in the past four years (e.g., RA, UTZ, Fair Trade, RSPO, GRASP).
• Familiarity with third‑party certification processes and strong organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, primarily overnight within Ivory Coast.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and database systems.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 22000 quality management systems.
• Understanding of ISO 19011 audit guidelines.
• Training in social audit standards such as SA8000 and SMETA.
