Medical Officer

About the role

The Medical Officer supports the Medical Coordinators within the Operations Department of MSF OCB, ensuring the medical quality of projects across West‑Africa and Sahel contexts. Reporting to the Deputy Operations Coordinator, the role provides strategic and operational guidance to safeguard and improve care delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑define and co‑design the Medical Operations (MedOps) strategy with coordination teams and the Deputy Medical Operations Coordinator.
• Provide strategic input and leadership to align plans with medical priorities in project countries.
• Monitor and follow up on the implementation of the medical strategy across all MSF operations.
• Support medical coordinators in project implementation, offering ad‑hoc assistance as needed.
• Ensure medical resources, policies, and guidelines are relevant, available, and effectively managed in each country of intervention.
• Oversee the implementation of Quality of Care (QoC) standards and drive improvement plans across projects.

Required profile

• Medical background with experience in supporting medical coordination in humanitarian or multi‑country settings.
• Ability to work closely with senior medical leadership and operational teams.
• Strong understanding of medical policy development, guideline adaptation, and quality of care monitoring.
