Planning Engineer (PLE) – EPC Project Controls

About the role

We are looking for a Planning Engineer (PLE) to lead scheduling, progress control and reporting activities on a major EPC project. You will be responsible for creating, updating and monitoring project schedules, analysing critical paths and delivering planning reports throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain project schedules in line with contract requirements, WBS structures and execution plans.
• Support preparation of proposal schedules and detailed execution schedules for assigned areas.
• Assist in defining work breakdown structures (WBS) and scheduling logic.
• Identify and monitor critical paths and schedule risks under senior guidance.
• Prepare planning control documents such as milestone plans, 90‑day schedules, progress curves and reporting packages.
• Perform schedule updates, progress measurement, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Conduct "what‑if" analyses to evaluate impacts of delays or changes.
• Monitor man‑hour expenditure, productivity trends and subcontractor schedules.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, vendors and subcontractors to ensure schedule alignment.
• Support time‑impact analyses, change‑order assessments and project close‑out activities.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of experience in project planning, controls or scheduling.
• Proven background in EPC/EPCM, oil & gas, petrochemical, energy, infrastructure or industrial construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of planning methodologies, schedule development, forecasting and progress measurement.
• Experience managing Level 3 schedules and conducting schedule risk analysis.
