Programme Management Assistant

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Programme Management Assistant to support the GEF Biodiversity and Land Degradation Unit in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. The role assists the Task Manager for West Africa and the Head of the Unit in planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting on programme activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support planning and implementation of programme activities and processes.
• Research, compile, analyse and present data on specific programmes and projects.
• Assist in coordination of programme/project planning and preparation.
• Help prepare and analyse budget proposals and interpret budget guidelines.
• Monitor and evaluate programmes, track financial data, prepare status reviews and budget revisions.
• Collaborate with project managers on performance reporting and ensure data accuracy.
• Draft programme/project summaries and manage review and clearance processes.
• Serve as focal point for coordination, monitoring and expediting implementation activities, liaising with diverse units.
• Maintain electronic and paper files, update internal databases and generate periodic and ad‑hoc reports.

Required profile

• Under direct supervision of the Task Manager, West Africa region.
• Works within the GEF Biodiversity and Land Degradation Unit, Biodiversity and Land Branch.
