Remote Medical Coder (US/UK Hospital Coding)

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review inpatient and outpatient medical records, including operative reports and discharge summaries.
• Assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, OPCS-4, SNOMED CT).
• Ensure coding accuracy in line with federal, state, NHS, and payer guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians, and resolve coding errors.
• Support revenue cycle by correcting claim denials and optimizing reimbursement.
• Participate in audits and maintain high data integrity.
• Stay current with coding guideline updates and compliance regulations.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital medical coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK certification.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
• Experience with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, or SystmOne.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+) and high‑speed internet connection.
• Backup power supply (UPS or generator) and a quiet, HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant workspace.
