Resident Advisor – Real Sector Statistics (AFRITAC West)

About the role

The IMF Statistics Department and the Africa Regional Technical Assistance Center West are seeking a Real Sector Statistics Advisor (RSSA) based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The RSSA will lead capacity‑development support for national accounts, price indices and other real‑sector statistics across ten West African countries and regional agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop an annual work programme and manage statistical capacity‑development activities in national accounts and price statistics.
• Coordinate capacity‑development actions with IMF departments, international institutions and bilateral agencies.
• Conduct country technical‑assistance missions and deliver regional training on national accounts and price statistics.
• Manage short‑term expert missions and ensure compliance with IMF standards and STA guidelines.
• Monitor implementation and evaluation of activities through the IMF CDMAP IT portal and contribute to reports for the AFW Steering Committee.

Required profile

• Expert knowledge of national accounts statistics with at least ten years of professional experience.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in economics, statistics or a related field.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both French and English.
• Strong relationship‑management, negotiation and influencing abilities for interaction with national authorities.
• Proven ability to organise and coordinate capacity‑development support across multiple stakeholders.
