VIE Purchaser – Port & Terminal Services (Africa)

About the role

As a VIE Purchaser for Port & Terminal Services in the Africa region, you will support the procurement function by negotiating and purchasing services for internal customers. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure contracts meet the Group’s standards and deliver value.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships with existing and potential suppliers across the region.
• Contribute to the annual Port and Terminal budget planning.
• Prepare and lead contract negotiations in collaboration with line management, operations, cost control, legal and local agents.
• Negotiate pricing, service level agreements and contract terms to secure the best conditions.
• Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations and report any deviations.
• Conduct market research to identify risks, opportunities and cost‑saving initiatives.
• Maintain procurement performance metrics within the Group SRM system.

Required profile

• Strong negotiation abilities and attention to detail.
• First experience in a purchasing or shipping environment is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills for building relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset to assess OPEX, P&L impact and market trends.
• Results‑oriented with a focus on cost reduction and service level improvement.
