Adolescent & HIV/AIDS Specialist (Fixed-Term) – Abidjan

About the role

The Adolescent & HIV/AIDS Specialist will support UNICEF’s efforts to improve the health and rights of adolescents affected by HIV/AIDS in Côte d’Ivoire. Reporting to the Chief Youth and Adolescents Development (P4), the specialist provides technical, administrative and operational guidance to ensure that adolescent development and participation are integrated across UNICEF’s advocacy, programmes and humanitarian actions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support for the design, implementation and monitoring of adolescent HIV/AIDS programmes.
• Assist country office staff and partners in integrating child‑rights standards and the Convention on the Rights of the Child into project plans.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align activities with UNICEF’s equity strategy.
• Contribute to results‑based management, reporting and knowledge‑sharing on adolescent development outcomes.
• Support advocacy initiatives and policy dialogue on adolescent health and HIV/AIDS.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field.
• Significant experience (typically 7+ years) in adolescent development, HIV/AIDS programming, or child‑rights advocacy, preferably within an UN or international development context.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with government, NGOs and UN partners.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.

Required skills

• Program design and monitoring for health interventions.
• Knowledge of UNICEF policies, the Convention on the Rights of the Child and equity‑focused approaches.
