About the role
Under the Deputy General Director, the Head of People Safeguarding and Inclusion provides strategic leadership and organisational assurance on safeguarding, inclusion and protection across MSF West and Central Africa. The role ensures that robust safeguarding systems, risk management mechanisms and reporting arrangements are implemented and integrated throughout the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the implementation of the MSF WaCA safeguarding strategy, defining objectives, milestones and key results.
- Maintain safeguarding risk‑management framework and ensure integration into recruitment, emergency response and programme design.
- Oversee case management, investigations and governance, guaranteeing confidentiality, fairness and protection from retaliation.
- Lead the inclusion, diversity, equity and people‑voice agenda, advising leadership on barriers and integrating DEI into HR processes.
- Provide safeguarding expertise to operations, support risk identification in programme design and participate in field missions.
- Coordinate staff protection, psychosocial support and wellbeing in partnership with HR and medical functions.
- Ensure data protection and confidentiality for safeguarding‑related information.
- Report on safeguarding and inclusion metrics to the Board and contribute to organisational risk management.
Required profile
- University degree in Law, Psychology, Social Sciences, International Development, Risk Management, Human Resources, Protection or a related field.
- Specialised training or certification in safeguarding, PSEA, protection, investigations or related areas.
- Excellent understanding of international safeguarding principles and survivor‑centred approaches.
- Proven ability to provide strategic advice to senior leadership and to influence organisational culture.
- Strong experience in risk assessment, case management and coordination with multiple functions.
