Area Sales Manager - Heavy Equipment & Construction Machinery

About the role

A bilingual (French/English) Area Sales Manager is sought to drive growth in the Ivory Coast for a supplier of heavy-duty equipment, construction machinery and industrial capital goods. The postholder expands market share, structures local distributor networks and ensures commercial and financial targets set by HQ are met. The role is based in Abidjan with frequent domestic travel.

Key responsibilities

• Sales strategy and execution: own annual and quarterly sales volume, revenue and payment collection targets across all product lines in the territory
• Pipeline management: identify and secure high-value deals with private enterprises, mining operators and public sector tenders
• Negotiate complex contracts for key corporate accounts and large equipment procurements
• Run ATL and BTL campaigns, including field demonstrations at construction or quarry sites and trade fair participation
• Track competitor pricing, product innovations and market trends and report insights to HQ
• Work with the credit department on financing, leasing or rent-to-own options, and with technical and service teams on a smooth sale-to-service handover
• Produce sales forecasts, pipeline updates and market analysis reports in English and French

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher (B.Sc., Master's or Engineering) in Sales, Marketing or Mechanical Engineering
• 5 to 8 years of B2B business development experience in heavy-duty equipment, construction machinery, commercial automotive or industrial capital goods in Ivory Coast
• Professional written and spoken English and French
• Deep knowledge of Ivorian buyer networks and project sites (construction, quarries, mining, port logistics)
